American Holidays
In the United States there are no federal (national) holidays.
Legally, the President and Congress can designate holidays only for
federal government employees. Each of the 50 states has the legal
right to determine which days will be holidays. Individual states
may observe federal holidays according to their own legislation.

- UNHCR urges U.S. to grant TPS to Colombian refugees
The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) has
requested that the U.S. government grant "temporary protected
status" (TPS) to Colombian nationals currently residing in the
United States.
