 Managed Care Plans

Managed care plans are becoming extremely popular. Half of all insured people in the United States are covered by such plans. Managed care or Health Maintenance Organizations (HMOs) represents a range of health care alternatives that provide services to individuals under a contractual agreement with providers. These plans usually have strict rules and guidelines for physicians, facilities and other health services providers.

An HMO covers all or almost all of the medical care for a year for a flat monthly fee. There are no additional costs to the covered individual (with the exception of small doctor’s fees) but they must use only the physicians that are affiliated with the HMO.
